I suppose that makes it obvious that I don't think people who laugh at that stuff are necessarily dumb. Aside from people I personally know who I consider smart and laugh at that kind of stuff, there are some famous examples, too. For instance, William Shakespeare and Benjamin Franklin are two people known for their intelligence and both made fart jokes in their writings.
I think when it comes to humor (and likely a few other things as well), it's just human nature to assume if someone likes something you don't, it's because there's something "wrong" with them. Thus people who don't find that kind of stuff funny assume it's only possible to find it funny if you're stupid or otherwise "inferior" to them in some way.
Really, though, you can't control what you find funny. I know I used to feel kind of dumb for laughing at that too, but then I started looking at it this way: would you rather be "mature" and disgusted at farts or would you rather be able to just laugh it off when it happens?
Sure, maybe I could condition myself to stop laughing at it if I tried hard enough, but why would I want to? Laughing is fun and I don't stop myself from laughing at anything else that amuses me.
Some people might think of you as dumb or immature for laughing at that and just out of courtesy for people grossed out by it, you probably won't want to go around farting in public or anything like that. And while I'll be the first to admit it's not exactly the most highbrow form of humor, that doesn't necessarily mean you have to be dumb to appreciate a good fart. Those things are just funny! Besides, there are dumb people who don't like farts, too, so I don't think whether one is disgusted, amused, or anywhere between by flatulence is correlated to intelligence.
Long story short, if farts make you happy and no one around you seems to mind, then go ahead and load up on the beans all you want. Life's too short to worry about feeling dumb when you could be laughing at hilarious noises.

20, Ok I can deal with that, I'm finding it a bit disturbing that your family finds it funny too and records it, I was going to say if you still think it's funny in 5 or 6 years you might have a problem, but I'm starting to think you possibly should start worrying now!

Me and my cousin Ryan, both of us 20 year old men now, have a hilarious holiday tradition. Every year after we eat all the food we can stomach, that night we have what we call a fart off. We pretty much just take turns farting until we decide who's farts are the biggest and best. In doing this, usually at Christmas time, we laugh endlessly and cannot stop laughing. My family thinks it is so funny and hilarious that they actually filmed it this year and talked about sending it to Americas Funniest Home Videos. I know it's dumb, but it is so hilarious. Is it dumb to find this flatulent tradition so funny?
