Yes they are mostly real actors and with training they can do it. Maybe some will ask for sleeping pill etc.

The tubes and such are only in a short ways and then tape down, they don't actually go all the way in.

I think sometimes when the patient is badly hurt especially in the head/face they will use a dummy so you can see the person anyway.

Part of their training in acting class .... is on how to play the part, you lay perfectly still, you cut yourself off from what you hear you put yourself in a peaceful state, all the while don't move your eye lids and hopefully you don't have to sneeze ...... I wish some of the actors were in a coma. The tubes are taped to the side of their mouth to look like it's the real deal

I am thinking that it is the actor that does the coma scenes. The tubes and ventilators are taped in place to make it look like they are attached to them.

They never really insert tubes its all just taped into place. The actor just lies there where the scene goes on.

It is the actors yes

How do soap opera actors film coma scenes? Is it the actual actor who's laying in the hospital bed or a dummy person. How do they get the tubes into the actor? For example, how do they get the ventilator into the actor?
